The Hope College Department of Computer Science strives to prepare professionals that will lead the wave of technological innovation into the twenty-first century. We have active, dedicated faculty, an innovative, up-to-date curriculum, and state-of-the art facilities. Most importantly, these are all available to our students from the day they step on campus as freshmen until they receive their degree and leave Hope to accept a lucrative and challenging position.

People   Four faculty members are dedicated to teaching and active in research. Students have many opportunities to learn about Computer Science both in and out of the classroom. Over 300 alumni of the Hope CS Department are leaders in the field worldwide.

Courses A unique course provides an introduction to Computer Science for all students via graphics. Three major programs are provided (A.B., B.S., sec. education). A wide range of courses are offered on a regular basis along with many special topic offerings.

Facilities All Computer Science courses are taught in our "clabroom" containing 12 Sun stations The student lab contains 10 Sun stations and is available 7 days/24 hours. A research lab used for networks and operating systems with 5 more Suns and 2 Pentiums. The departmental network is accessible directly from campus residence halls.

Research All majors complete a Senior Project Seminar in which they do a significant project. NSF sponsored summer research gives opportunities to many students. All students gain valuable experience through internships and part-time employment.
